6 Day Singapore Highlights: City & Nature

Don’t let its size fool you. Singapore is a small but exceptional city-state that’s been alluring curious travelers long before this Southeast Asian nation paved its way onto the Hollywood big screens.

A true cultural melting pot, Singapore features the best elements of the East and West, showcasing its Chinese, Malay, Indian and British roots while still remaining a vibrant destination that remains uniquely its own. Explore the colorful streets of lively Little India, stopping at beautiful, thousand-year-old temples and modern world-class shopping malls. Indulge in the gastronomy of Singapore’s hawker centers, a culinary scene that nurtures the community that brings this food-focused nation together. At Singapore’s popular hawker centers, you’ll also find some of the most affordable Michelin-starred eateries in the world.

Make a visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, one of the most visited botanical gardens in the world and the Lion City’s first UNESCO Heritage Site. Admire attractions like the Vanda Miss Joaquim, Singapore’s national flower, as well as the National Orchid Garden, where you’ll see over 1000 species of orchids on display. Venture off to Gardens by the Bay, an expansive park that’s a must-see highlight for any visitor to Singapore. Visit the Gardens by the Bay’s Supertrees, incredible tree-like structures and vertical gardens with stunning views of the city that are designed to provide shade during the day and come alive with an exhilarating display of lights and sound at night. Afterwards, make your way to the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, two of the largest glass green houses in the world that feature a display of flowers and plants from Mediterranean and Tropical Mountain regions. Enjoy a full-day historical tour of the Kranji War Memorial, which honors the members of the navy, air force and army that gave their lives defending Singapore. Head to the Old Ford Factory, a quaint art deco building that marks the site the British surrendered to the Japanese, marking the fall of Singapore during World War II.

Take a quick, half-day city break to Pulau Ubin, an island sanctuary with gravel roads, lush forests and abundant wildlife that offers visitors a glimpse of what Singapore was like in the 1960s. At Pulau Ubin, you’ll also discover the Chek Jawa Wetlands, a rich eco-system that once a coral reef before evolving into the serene wetlands it is today. Throughout your trip, immerse yourself in the luxurious comfort and the historical atmosphere of the Fullerton Hotel, a magnificent neoclassical landmark that played a significant role throughout Singapore’s history.

What really matters to us

We aim to develop long term relationships – with our clients, our partners and, especially, with the communities we visit regularly. As such, our business is built on giving back. We are dedicated to preserving the land, oceans and cultures that compel us to travel.

We believe that both the customized, private-guided tours that we design and the giving partnerships we undertake should be inspiring and impactful. Our charitable initiatives are rooted in exploration, education and environmental awareness.

Encouraging exploration

A yearning for adventure and new discoveries around the globe is at the heart of all that we do. Kensington is an official travel partner of The Explorers Club, a prestigious professional society supporting research and education in the physical, natural and biological sciences.

We also support a group of intrepid storytellers from around the globe. Part of our Explorers In Residence program, these writers, photographers and filmmakers are committed to furthering our understanding of this planet and its people.

Fostering education

We believe offering access to education is one of the most powerful ways we can make a global impact. Kensington Cares is an initiative designed to support education in developing countries, including Kenya, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Our efforts have helped to fund the opening of two schools in the Masai Mara: Oloosinon Primary School and Kensington Hall.

Funding environmental initiatives

We’re focused on supporting research and data collection efforts that will affect change, especially when it comes to conservation. As a founding partner of Nekton, Kensington has made an important commitment to the research and conservation of the deep ocean, our planet's last great frontier.

In accordance with 30x30, Nekton collects data and samples to set a baseline of information for the previously unexplored deep-sea waters of the Indian Ocean.
